Today would have been my friend Eddy’s 50th birthday, but he was tragically killed many years ago. He made sure I never let my imposter syndrome slow me down, so I wanted to share some of his wisdom with you.

We hear a lot about imposter syndrome, but for whatever reason, Ed never had that “syndrome”. Hahaha. I have had it many times and for a few of them, Eddy was there to call me on it. Here’s some Eddy wisdom for you all on his birthday.

- They wouldn’t have you here if they didn’t believe you can crush this. GTFU and prove them right.

- These people didn’t show up to watch you be nervous. Man-up, smile big and let’s go put on a show. (And make some money!)

- Can you believe you get all of this for $2.63 an hour??? (His way of saying we are so worth more than what we get paid hourly as bartenders)

- It doesn’t matter how much glass we break, just make sure they all have fun!

My time with him was short in the scheme of my life, but his impact was huge. I stopped thinking I didn’t belong in any room, but instead took a moment to appreciate that I was there. Then took a deep breath and did what I was sent there to do.

Cheers to the people who impact our lives for the positive. Find more of them and eliminate those that subtract from your happiness. That math always adds up! Happy Birthday my friend. You would’ve been a wild 50 yr old today. ❤️
