Changing who you are as a business starts with determining who you want to be.
To think that 28 years ago today this was the cover of Sports Illustrated asking if the National Football League (NFL) could be saved from being a boring league? In my time in the NFL, I watched as some of the best brand marketers set a course to what the league would be known for and boring was not part of that destination. There are so many #LessonsFromSports that we teach our partners and I hope that they all see this today.
You are not stuck being what you are today, but that change will not happen without determining what you want to be known for. After that is decided it takes consistency and strength to go towards that destination unapologetically. If we go back to the NFL example, each micro decision they made in the last 28 years have been heavily scrutinized and not all were popular, but they have kept driving towards their brand destination and it shows!

A logo is not a brand. I’ll say it again… A LOGO IS NOT A BRAND. And neither is a uniform or a campaign slogan.

How you behave will determine what you are known for. So you better know who you want to be. 🧠
