I saw this pic the other day and all I could think about was: Remember to be the pink dolphin!

I arrived in Arizona for my first National Football League (NFL) league meeting. I was nervous and quietly intimidated because I wasn’t sure I belonged there. I walked into the lobby and saw all of the league employees setting up. Everyone had solid color polo shirts and khaki pants on. I froze and thought:

“I don’t even own a polo shirt!!!”

I went up to my room and put on some workout gear and pretended to go running. In reality I was going to look for a store that sold polo shirts. I found a Margaritaville restaurant and they had polo shirts with a parrot on it. I returned to the hotel went upstairs and got ready for the welcome reception and put on my new polo shirt.

I fit in with what everyone was wearing, but as my conversations evolved throughout the night, everyone wanted to talk about the things that made me unique and then I realized…

I didn’t get here by trying to be everyone else. I got here by being me!

The next day I arrived in my bright shirts and shoes and was proudly the pink dolphin.
