Monday would have been my dad’s birthday. I spent a little time looking at old pics.

My dad was one of nine kids and dropped out of school in the 8th grade to start working. He spent the majority of his career in the real estate business. He found success and also failure.

He had a lot of life experience and wisdom that he shared with me and here are some of my most used pieces of advice:

- You might be dead right, but you’re still DEAD. (Used in driving, but useful in business)

- When I win, we all win. Spread the love.

- Take care of your family first.

- You’re on your own now, no more training wheels, you got this!

My favorite piece of advice was after I didn’t listen to him about needing to stop giving so much “free time” to the radio station I was interning at.

“I was wrong. I’ve never seen you happier and more focused. Go after this goal with everything you have and money will come.”

Well Dad, I’m still going after it with everything I have and I’ve never been happier or more focused than I am right now!
