Sometimes, the most important thing you can do as a leader is sit there, listen, and take the punch.

It’s not comfortable—sitting in front of a group upset about a decision you made—but that’s exactly where you need to be as a leader.

When you’re responsible for a group, it’s your job to constantly monitor and assess risks and challenges that could negatively affect them. Sometimes, your desire to help may create friction, and that friction can lead to anger or frustration.

This is why doing your due diligence is crucial. Be sure of the decision you’re making, so when that friction boils over, you can confidently stand your ground and calmly share your rationale.

Decisions made out of fear will fail.

Do the work, stand by your choices, and unapologetically pursue the desired result. Then, as you move forward, continue to assess, evaluate, and adjust. 💪
