I love this quote from my former boss and now partner, Claudia Lezcano from this week’s Forbes 30/50 event in Abu Dhabi.

The difference between winning and losing often comes down to effort, attitude, and simply showing up. 💪

The difference between winning and losing often comes down to effort, attitude, and simply showing up. 💪
Last weekend was supposed to be my first free weekend in a while, and I was looking forward to a day on the couch. Then a friend messaged me, asking if I was heading to the Breeders’ Cup World Championships in Del Mar. I replied that I wasn’t.
The next morning, I woke up to find two tickets waiting for me. My mind started racing with excuses for why I shouldn’t go, but then I stopped and reminded myself:
- Showing up is what separates good from great.
- Showing up is what I do.
- Showing up just takes effort.
And how great would it be to see my friend?
I rallied, got ready, and headed out to the track. It turned into an amazing afternoon with friends, and I was grateful for the invite and the push to go.
Excuses are easy, but it’s that extra effort that propels you forward. 🚀
A huge thanks to Paige Beaudoin for making sure I showed up and to Joshua Elias for joining me for some fun and games. 🏇✨

We have a tendency in business to take people who are great at their jobs and eventually put people underneath them.
