The ESPN layoffs hit a lot of talented people today.

The ESPN layoffs hit a lot of talented people today.

First and foremost, that's never easy to see. My thoughts are with everyone affected.

The bigger story isn't ESPN. It's what these layoffs represent.

For decades, ESPN thrived on the cable bundle. Millions of households paid for ESPN whether they watched it or not.

Consumer behavior changed.

Streaming replaced cable. Audiences fragmented. People now choose what they watch, when they watch it, and where they watch it.

Companies like Barstool Sports and Jomboy Media were built for that reality from day one.

None of this happened overnight. The signs have been there for years.

That's the lesson.

No matter your industry, it's your responsibility to understand where your business is headed, not just where it is today. The professionals who stay valuable are usually the ones who see change coming and start adapting before they have to.

Keep building new skills. Keep learning.

Don't wait until you need a job to tell your story.

Share your work. Share your perspective. Build a reputation that extends beyond the logo on your business card.

Because when change comes, and it always does, you want people to already know who you are and what you're capable of.

The logo may change. Your value shouldn't.
