Observation

A rattlesnake in the yard: experience replaces panic with process, in business too.

I had plans for my evening.

A rattlesnake coiled on a garden trellis in Wayne Partello's backyard.

I had plans for my evening.

Then I looked over and saw a rattlesnake in my yard, right next to where I was about to sit.

Dinner plans changed.

My daughter couldn’t believe how calm I was.

It wasn’t because I wasn’t scared.

It was because this wasn’t my first rattlesnake.

Experience has a funny way of replacing panic with process.

I knew what to do.

I knew who to call.

I knew staying calm would lead to a better outcome.

Business isn’t much different.

Plans change.

Clients leave.

Budgets get cut.

Competitors make unexpected moves.

The best leaders aren’t the ones who never face problems.

They’re the ones who’ve seen a few rattlesnakes before.

Experience doesn’t prevent surprises.

It gives you the confidence to pivot without losing your composure.

What’s the “rattlesnake” you’ve had to navigate recently?
