This was the response I got when I asked a new boss, what are you looking for from me. The good news was, I had always been unapologetically me, so at that point I decided to double down and let the rest take care of itself. It worked! That leader understood that the best teams were comprised of different types of people all pulling towards a common goal, not a group of people all trying to be like them.
I have watched so many people try and be the person they think others want them to be, only to not be happy in the end. Whether it’s for a job or for a friendship, there is no reason to not be who YOU want you to be. If the other person doesn’t like it, it’s their loss!
There should be no compromising when it comes to being yourself.
