My friend and former Creative Director Brendan Nieto taught me my most valuable question to ask myself while managing creatives:
Is it wrong or do YOU not like it?
It’s so important to decide where to insert your own creativity as a leader. Every executive I have ever met thinks they are creative.
Not everyone thinks they can sell.
Not everyone thinks they can be an accountant.
Not everyone thinks they can be a lawyer.
But EVERYONE thinks they can be a marketer.
Here’s the solution:
Leaders, set brand standards that you are comfortable with. Hire great people to build plans to achieve success.
Then the biggest challenge….
Get out of the way and trust them!
Interject if you see something is WRONG, but not just because you don’t like it!
