Real talk (🚨long post alert 🚨)
Running your own business is hard.
Last week a new entrepreneur asked me:
“What’s been the hardest part of building CUENTO Marketing (opens the CUENTO site in a new tab)?”
Where do I start?
How about with Money.
Getting paid on time. Sometimes getting paid at all.
It’s different when you work for a company.
There’s no magic wand or someone else to fix these challenges. It’s on you!
Then there’s people.
You want to grow your team.
Compensate them well.
Invest in their future.
Which means you need to constantly go create more revenue to support that growth.
Then balance.
Deliver exceptional work for partners…
While still carving out time to build your own company.
And then there’s the part no one talks about.
Isolation.
I’ve never felt more alone than during certain moments of building this company.
That’s not a complaint.
I have an incredible partner.
An amazing family.
A strong team.
But the weight of being responsible?
That hits different.
With all of that happening, you still have to show up.
Lead.
Smile.
Deliver.
Set the tone.
That’s the assignment.
And I love it.
So why share this?
Because most people only post the wins. The hires. The celebrations.
But in the quiet moments, when the pressure is real, it can feel like the walls are closing in.
And if you’re considering taking the leap into entrepreneurship…
Don’t just prepare for the wins.
Prepare for the weight.
I’m not in one of those heavy moments right now. That’s why I can talk about it.
I’m good. I promise.
But if this helps someone prepare for what’s ahead, or not feel alone today it’s worth sharing.
