Transitioning from working for a team to consulting with teams has given me a whole new perspective.

Transitioning from working for a team to consulting with teams has given me a whole new perspective.

When you’re deep in the day-to-day grind, your mindset can be completely dictated by media coverage and public sentiment:

When the team is winning

Everyone wants to celebrate you. Feels amazing.

When the team is losing

Everyone wants to critique you. Feels awful.

Add in media and fan content that’s driven and rewarded by amplifying public sentiment—and suddenly, you’re in an emotional avalanche of highs and lows.

Here’s my best advice for team marketers and brand leaders:

✅ Set a clear brand goal

✅ Drive toward it unapologetically

✅ Listen to feedback—but don’t chase it

✅ Use outside commentary only to identify true opportunities for improvement

✅ Don’t let the noise steer your ship

Consistency builds trust. Direction creates momentum.
